I moved back to Seattle in Sept 2006, but not to freelance. Instead I went to work full-time for an alternative energy company. After a year+ of that, I gave them 6 weeks notice and started subcontracting again in January 2008. 4 months later, and it’s going well enough. I was able to reconnect back into my network of contacts/customers and there were several projects I could jump right in to. I’ve set up a bank account, got Quickbooks in use, have paid my first quarterly installment of federal taxes, got a logo developed. With luck, perseverance, and general hard work, it should continue well.

I found the neighborhood boundaries in a City of Seattle development guidelines document – now, to translate them onto the Google map!
