My mother used to play violin when she was young, I never saw her play. We have her old violin and she tried to teach me when I was in 3rd grade, but I quickly lost interest. I spent 8 years playing the french horn in school, and then just a year ago I pulled out the violin and messed with it, and one of the (so so so old) strings broke. Then just a month ago I brought it to my boyfriend’s dad, who restrung it for me and installed fine tuners for all the strings, and I have been vigilantly learning over the past few weeks. The violin is much more portable and versatile than the french horn, as much as I liked playing that.
