There are plenty of programs to help people learn German, but I think the best way to learn is to read lots of German written by native speakers. Also, try keeping a journal or diary in German—it may not always be grammatically correct or have all the right words, but it will help you practice your German and expand your vocabulary. Stay away from online translators because they always jumble things up. I have yet to see an online translator translate with correct grammar or keep the meaning of what is being said. Instead, find a good German-English dictionary and use that. A good onine dictionary is located at http://dict.tu-chemnitz.de
