How I did it: I started with an internship and, from there, moved into an admin role, despite having worked in a much higher level capacity in the private sector.  Once in the admin role, I was in a position to start exploring the areas of work that I was interested in and offered my time to people in those teams.  Luckily, I was in an organisation that supported personal and professional development. Got takeaway… must say, wasn’t my favorite. The samosa were quite good, but the vegetable dhahi tasted as though tinned spaghetti sauce had gone in at some point. Alas!

and am quite rubbish, particularly at steering in a double scull, but I reckon I could hold my own in a novice four or quad, so I’ve put my name in the pot and if there’s a spare seat in a boat come August, then I might get to race at Peterborough…
