Mixed in amongst a chaotic mix of childhood memories is an incredibly clear moment when I happened to pass by the TV tunes to Wide World of Sports as they covered the Ironman in Hawaii. I was awestruck by the incredible feat as the announcer went on and on about how gruelling it must be and the incredibly strength and courage shown in the athletes. I didn’t realize it for several decades but I was hooked line and sinker that very moment. I WILL be an Ironman.
