I’ve been working very hard to allow myself to enjoy the present moment and what I’m working on. It’s a lot of work to relax (paradoxically) but I can safely say I have accomplished this goal through habit, willpower, and discipline. I don’t let the anxious thoughts override the present moment and when those thoughts arrive, I let them rise and fall on their own.

I learned how to do all three of these with my dear friend. It was a lot of fun. While I still have much work to do in order to be good or even coordinated, I did learn how to do these dances successfully! Once you tame those feelings of self-consciousness and performance anxiety, you can relax and have fun doing it.

Feelings of jealousy come from feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteem. Whenever I started to feel jealous about my boyfriend hanging out with his friends, I focused on being productive or hanging out with my own friends. The fact is that when I was busy, I didn’t think those jealous thoughts. I gradually retrained my mind to focus on myself and my own issues instead of projecting my feelings of inadequacy.
