(non)lazy thursday 3 days ago

I REALLY don’t feel like going to TKD tonight, so instead I need to continue cleaning.

  • file work papers
  • go through boxes of fabric
  • finish going through stack of clothes from yesterday
  • hang up other clothes
  • take plastic bin downstairs
  • put shoes away

more success! 4 days ago

Tonight I dragged out a giant banker’s box FULL of old clothes. YIKES. I got rid of most of it! It seems it was mostly my favorite shirts from when I was in high school. I kept two for sentimental reasons and put the rest in a box for my high school and junior high aged cousins. It was hard to part with some of it, but I looked at it like “this was an awesome shirt back in the day, but I’m 24. Do I really NEED a circa-1999 three-quarter sleeve shirt with a dragonfly on it? Nooo…”

I also took the lid off another box that I thought was full of clothes but instead found that it was full of books, so I got rid of most of those as well. Bonus!

Mind, Body, Soul (read all 15 entries…)
11/17 check-in. 5 days ago

Soul: I’d like to spend time each day meditating. This would also be beneficial to my mind and body, but I’d mainly like it to be a spiritual endeavor. Checking in with myself, so to speak.

Aside from that I’m pretty good today. My body is a bit bruised from sparring but feels good. I wasn’t exhausted today. I did go to bed at 9:15 last night and sleep until 7:30, though. Currently it’s 8:40 and I’m quite ready for bed. Two months ago I couldn’t fathom going to bed so early, now I find it difficult to stay up! It shocks me that I was so used to staying up until anywhere between 11pm and 2am on a regular basis. Yikes.

My mind is also pretty decent. Yesterday and today were good days at work. The student also had good days. I had a long meeting with my supervisor yesterday and made it very clear to him that I will not put up with the student’s parent(s) being complete nutcases and flying off the handle as they did last week. I feel that as long as I am doing my job effectively and going “above and beyond” as they all notice I’m doing, then the parents should back off and act like mature adults. I also made it clear that if the parents do not calm down, I will not be back next year and will request a transfer. My supervisor responded that he truly hopes I will stay with this particular student, but that there is absolutely no doubt that I will have a job next year if I choose to transfer. Sweet!

The one thing I’d really like to work on is establishing morning and evening routines. Not counting showering and hygiene and stuff, but rather relaxing and/or stress-reducing “good stuff.”

Mornings:

  • I’d like to get up at 6:30am (and aim for getting up at 6).
  • I’d like to have a healthy, leisurely breakfast.
  • I’d like to have time to read, relax, stretch, etc. – basically ease into my day.

Evenings:

  • I’d like to pick out my clothes for the next day.
  • I’d like to pack my lunch for the next day.
  • I’d like to remember to take my vitamin.
  • I’d like to set aside time to read, relax, stretch, etc. – ease into sleep mode!
