Nothing I write here will do justice to the experience.
I have been a fan since 1974 back in the days when Randy Meisner played bass. Its been a long wait, but last Sunday
the wait was over.
The lights went down.
Suddenly, “Taking it easy” burst forth! We were in business. Song after song, igniting memory after memory.
As the show developed I found myself thinking I cannot think of a time when they looked or sounded better? I have seen many video clips of previous concerts, and I really believe they were never as good as they are now.
The way they play and the way they harmonise has always meant they can not travel too far from the microphones. This once prompted a music journalist to comment that they ‘loiter’ on stage. Well if I want to see dancing, I will go to the Royal Ballet! What I saw on Sunday night, was a master class.
They were fantastic.
Joe Walsh is one of the best guitarists in the world. There are very few I would consider in the same league as him.
Messrs. Henley, Frey and Schmidt were on top form and the guys who support them in their world beating tours were wonderful.
The mighty horns, keyboard and percussionist were outstanding.
So that was Farewell No.1. It just makes me wonder how long we have to wait for Farewell No.2! Take a break guys, but come back soon.
You still fill the big stadiums so lets grow old together. There is so much that is called music today that will not be music in 5 years time, never mind 35 years time.
