How I did it: I did it one space at a time. Our house isn't an immaculate model of simplicity, but it ain't half bad. As well as making the effort to purge, organize, and not accumulate, I have to learn to accept other folks not sharing my exact priorities. Particularly, the husband folk. We're having our baby shower in two weeks, so I completed this goal just in time to have an influx of things come into our home! Hum dum. Read how I did it…
How I did it: My office mate & great friend is from New Orleans and we've been talking about going to Jazz Fest since the first year we met. Year after year, there was always some reason not to go (namely giving / taking exams and/or our PhD qualifying exams). This year, my planned research trip to India would've stood in my way, had my pregnancy not stood in the way of the research trip to India. Recognizing an opportunity when I see one, I booked… Read how I did it…
How I did it: As stated previously, this goal transformed from "save up for..." to "pay my parents back for...". Part of what prompted the change was that my cats started marking the carpet in one spot and there seemed to be no getting the scent out enough to get them to stop. So it went from an aesthetic preference to more of a sanitation issue. That being said, I love love love how light and bright my house is! It's been this way for a long time, and … Read how I did it…
I shortened a pair of maternity pants for the summer.
Then I added lace panels to the sides.

Now I just need to remove the basting stitch.
I’m out of inspiration for the time being. There are plenty of things I want to make once I’m back to a non-maternity-wear me, but, for now, there’s the shortening of pants.
My ladies are throwing us a baby grill (girl) party next weekend (in lieu of an all girl baby shower). It’s a pretty unique affair with games (like a ‘don’t break the water balloon race’), scandalous prizes, as well as great food and drinks (I heard tell of white russians to be served in baby bottles). They’ve put a lot of time and love into putting it together and, in the meantime, I got together their thank you presents.
I ordered personalized flasks for each lady,
except for my pregnant friend, who’s getting a “Green Shirt Thursday” pregnancy tank that I stenciled
to match her husband’s “Green Shirt Thursday” t-shirt (which he wore every Thursday during the years we spent together in grad school).
(For the picture, I hadn’t yet peeled out the “holes” in the Es, S, D, and A because the paint was still a little wet.)
Then I wrote everyone a card and made gift bags.
I love giving presents. I hope the gals are happy with ‘em.
