Seeing a friend’s hand made stitch markers gave me just the push I needed to go ahead and make my own. They look so nice in my knitting. I made one with a charm at the bottom and eight largish jump rings chained together with very small jump rings. I’m using it for the Irish Hiking scarf. I count my rows by slipping the next large jump ring down onto my needle each time I get to it. When I get to the last one I know it’s time to cable.

My previous attempts at sockmaking have gotten me no more than a couple of inches of cuff. This time I’m taking a class at my rather new, yet already beloved LYS. I’ve got the leg of the first sock completed, the second sock cast on and expect to have both socks completed by the end of the month. The instructor has us knitting our socks on double pointed needles and we’re knitting both socks in stages. What I mean by that is we’re knitting both sock legs; then we’ll have a class on heels. Next we’ll knit down to the toe decreases and finish sock one in a third class.
I’m still working on the socks..no…sock. First sock. It’s very slow progress. I’m not the swiftest knitter when it comes to ribbing. Perhaps by the time I’m finished with these socks I’ll be faster. When I’m not feeling attentive enough for the socks I’ve been working along on a scarf in eyelash yarn. Sort of a boa.
