So now I am in serious arguments with landlord to hold on to my place. There are some hoprful signs but it is still very touch and go, and California is not an easy p;ace to find rentals. Wish ,e luck and pray to the high hoply beings for me.

I feel I was a little snarly to someone. However I now think what is going on is that I really feel the current economic system is so buggy we need to fix it before we can hold anyone reesponsible for trying to just get stuff out of it with out realikzing the consequence…
I have a mixed feeling towards the wonders and blunders of the current financial system thta seems full of bugs. It seems people are sort of led down the garden path to do some stupid things because overall this helps the system as currently built function. Capitalism needs growth, stocks have to peform and things are supposed to make money and it doesn’t matter if they do bad things to do this. If part of the planet has to be destroyed so be it, thwe system has to go on and people have to make money and have job etc.
I know I sound like an old hippy and perhaps all I need to do is go on spring break with my younger female friend from Ohio and have fun and stop worrying and how to change the world.
Have Fun,
Sends Steve

There are good reasons to observe lent. In the past it used to be a break from the overeating and overdrinking that people did when they got stuck in houses pretty much all winter long. SPring was warm and it was a nice break one could stop doing things and let one’s body have a rest from that and take the time to contemplate things and one’s relation to the spiritual world.
One could use it as a time in the current situation to eat a bit more lightly, think about others and about the things outside of oneself and for the world in general that should be done, and perhaps if they were done it would make the world a better place. It might be a time to get away from the hyper must have latest goodies that seem to pervade Christmas.
However if one’s life is a bit austere already it might be a time to go easy on oneself and others. To try to practice those virtues one agreed to practice long ago and to do the difficult things that need to be done.
Hopefully doing all of this, some 40 days or so later one can experience a feeling of renewal when spring really kicks in.
Oh by the way I am thinking about religion and its purpose in the world and life. It seems that Christainity as practiced currenly is a bit too reductionstic for me to put much energy into. ALthough it has some very good points. Boy does it reallyh need the Ressurection as I don’t think “higher criticism” doesn’t really cut it.
