Just like mediation, this makes me feel like me. Because I got into it on my own and was actually pretty damn good at it.

My biggest problem with the teachers in high school band was that none of them wanted to TEACH. They wanted to practice and yell at us until we got it right, but none of them wanted to sit down and teach us what we aught to be doing or thinking about while playing or what would make us better musicians. Like if you had to improve a solo, they would just say “okay go” and if you couldn’t do it right away, they would give the solo to someone better. WHAT THE FUCK?! Teach me…do your damn job…and maybe I could kick ass on an improvised solo. But give the tools to do it. I want to go back to school, join an orchestra, and learn like I should have been learning for the 9 years I did music in school already.
