Today, I went and saw 127 Hours in theaters, and I realized a couple things. My friends and I are wayyy different: One came out mortified with the ending, one broke down and cried after the fact, and one was nauseous for about five hours afterwards. I came out rejuvenated and inspired. While we all agreed that it was an incredible movie, they thought it was sad and I thought it was happy. It was a beautiful story. I could not fathom having such a strong mentality to get me through that. I can’t imagine having that kind of will to live. My new goal is to become perpetually hungry for life. i want to want more.

How I did it: My best college friend came to Vermont to visit me while I was house sitting about an hour away from home. The water there was sulfurous, so showering there was not ideal. My friend is the poster child of crunchy, and as much as she loved church street and walking on the water front, the river was really more her style. We jumped off cliffs and swam the day away. Before we left we crawled along the rocks, into the cave under the water fal… Read how I did it…
How I did it: My freshman year of college was really rough for me. I lived in Maine five hours away from home without a car. The first semester of college crushed me. I had to drop out of chemistry, and I ended up failing my math course. Second semester I focused all my energy on great grades and transferring. I harnessed all my bad vibes and pain into a transfer essay and grades. I am not going as far as to say that I didn't have fun, but I didn't dic… Read how I did it…
How I did it: At the beginning of the summer, I went to a conference for my job (I work with children). A speaker got up on stage who did not sound very educated, and towards the end of his speech he began talking about being genuine. He told us that every human can tell if one is being genuine. Every human being needs someone to be genuine. Don't do something with someone if you're not in it for real... what is the point? Don't pretend to listen to so… Read how I did it…
