I’d like to learn it becuase I will be doing the layout for a science journal project, at university, and I’ve been reading about typography a lot since a few months and that makes you realize what a mediocre piece of software Microsoft Word is for these purposes.

My logic professor introduced me to LaTeX, like Rob is saying: it’s essential if you want to use a lot of mathematical symbols.
