Finally caught a live Lotus show, and at one of Chicago’s more interesting rock venues: Subterranean. Ann and I sat upstairs, where we had a quirky view of the band. The volume was a bit less up there (good) though Lotus’s crazy light show kept shining right in our eyes. :) A very good experience.

Exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago
My wife, Ann, and I really enjoyed seeing an exhibit today at the Art Institute of Chicago that features original artwork for children’s books that have won Caldecott Awards (or Honors) since 2000. It’s a real treat! If you can get to Chicago, don’t miss this. As a souvenir, we bought Kevin Henkes’s “Kitten’s First Full Moon.”
Birthday present

I received funding for a hot-air balloon ride for my birthday in September. (Thanks, family!) So now I just gotta make it happen.
