I have finally decided, that I must lose weight, no matter what it takes and to not give up. I know it is easier said than done, but my health is catching up with me, and at the age of 16, this is obviously a huge concern.
This morning, the 4th May 2009, I went on the scales, and found that I weighed 94 kilos. It would be a lie to say I have never weighed this much in my life, I recently weighed close to 97 kg, so I have lost around 6 pounds, but this is in about 2 months, so not great, but a start just the same.
My two main issues that I must address in order to meet this goal are:
1. Portion control – generally I eat fairly healthily, not much fast foods, not much processed food, BUT i eat too much, especially carbs, too often.
2. Exercise – I am sitting my A levels at the moment, so there’s always something else to do, always some other excuse not to exercise. But I am doing about 2 hours a week at the moment, so not nearly enough.
My goal now, is to lose 2 pounds per week, I know in order to sustain this, I must set an achievable goal.
My methods of achieving this is going to be more exercise, exams are really close, but its healthy to have a break, so instead of watching TV or playing a game in a break, I’ll go for a 30 minute walk or use the running machine or an exercise video.
I’m aiming to increases my exercise intake to 30 minutes each day, I’m not sure if this will be enough, but I know its possible and realistic, so i will be able to stick to it :)
To address the issue of portion control, I’m making a food diary, which I have started today, and use the 15 minute rule, and to improve my snacks, the unhealthiest part of my diet are the snacks I eat, so I’m going to aim to get my 5 day now instead of allowing crisps and chocolate in my diet.
