I’m planning on doing six months in Chile next year! I’m thinking of taking a semester off of University for this, though my friends and parents think that’s a terrible idea. But I feel that if I wait until after university, I’ll be paying off my loans so I’ll need a job then and volunteering isn’t the best option… and I think that I just need to go. I’m studying abroad in England right now, and being away makes me appreciate the world. I’m thinking of going with Mondo Challenge, a UK based company. It’s not that expensive, definately check it out! It’s only 3000$ for six months!!!!

How I did it: I just applied for a study abroad programme at my home uni! I'm in England right now, and I love it. I never want to leave. I chose a major that allows me to go abroad, and since I study European Politics, it's obvious that I chose here. Also, my university does a direct exchange with the one I'm at, so it was cheaper than anywhere else. Took out a loan, and I'm loving it. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I joined a costume construction class at my University, and made a complete 18th century gown, including two corsets (one mock-up, one real). First I took measurements for my model, created a dress form (in the form I wanted my corset to make) and then using a pattern from the period, I blew the pattern up (from a book), and created the corset! Now I just need to make one for myself :) Read how I did it…
So I finally learned how to sew during a Costume Technologies class this fall! I’ve always thought it would be neat to be a costume designer, and I learned how to hand and machine sew, I even got to make a ‘smock’ for the university’s musical! It’s completely worth it, I’m taking more costume design classes next spring and fall to learn how to drape fabric and create patterns as well!
So I just got my second tattoo on Wednesday! So now I have two, three stars on my ribs and now the Deathly Hallows symbol on my hip! [I know, a bit of a dork]. The second time around it almost hurt more, I think because I was telling myself it doesn’t really hurt that bad… since it’s been over a year since my first I forgot how it really felt, so the pain really shocked me. But it’s definately a lot funner the second time around than the first, I was a lot more comfortable, I can’t wait for another!
