I’ve brought some of my knitting stuff to the house from the apartment. One of the things I made sure to grab was the afghan. It’s languished over the summer as I worked on cooler projects. But now that the weather has turned cooler, it’s the perfect project to work on while I sit on the sofa watching tv in the evenings. Last night, I started on the final skein, so it’s just a matter of a couple of weeks. Then I’ll wash it in some stuff just for handknits and my mom can start enjoying her throw.

How I did it: As usual, I turned to the internet to do some research on local massage therapists. I found a clinic in Geneseo that had good customer reviews. So, I called an set up an appointment. Unfortunately, I was getting a cold when my appointment came around and had to call to reschedule. Finally I was healthy and had my first massage in about four years last night. I've never had a male massage therapist before and … Read how I did it…
How I did it: Since the college will soon be having a site visit as part of the accreditation process, we had a deadline for completing these. I've actually had the bigger goals written for a couple of months now. I just needed to finish up some of the smaller bits...or what you'd considered objectives. Of course, it's an ongoing process as we develop new things and change some things. But it was good to clarify what is we're do… Read how I did it…
How I did it: We have a "service" that we use for our web pages. It was (and will continue to be) a frustrating process since I can't do everything I like unless I really want to go in and write code from scratch. Unfortunately, I don't have that kind of time with all the other things on my plate. But I think what I've come up with is better and cleaner. It's likely time to do some usability surveys, but that will have to wait until s… Read how I did it…

I can tell it has been a long time since I’ve picked up this book. And now I wonder why I’ve disliked it so much before. Steinbeck does a great deal of description of things. At first it’s not obvious that he is writing about the Joad family. But after a couple of chapters, I’m enjoying the rhythm of the writing and the richness of the expression. I can almost taste the dust and feel the heat of that dry Oklahoma. Unlike before, I want to keep on reading to see what happens next.
Now that I’ve completed the 52 books in 52 weeks challenge, I think it’s time to turn my attention to The Grapes of Wrath. I’ve tried to read this book several times and just haven’t managed to get past the first few chapters. But I’m determined to persevere and make it to the end this time.
