figure out where all the people like me are hiding
No Need To Figure... 4 months ago

I found out where people like me were hiding when I decided to get out and do something. It turns out, like many people, I had been waiting to be “found” or felt I would suddenly be inspired to find a clump of people “like me” hiding behind a building down the street. (Oh… there you are, we’ve been waiting for you!)

So, I’ve taken action…

First, I started taking courses, classes, seminars, going to meetings, meetups or any other group of two or more who were doing what I liked or wanted to learn more about. You’ll find motivated and interested friends there – keep them…

Second, I began to get interested in making a difference in the world and found many not-so-hidden people working their asses off to help others. They are great friends – keep them…

Third, I kept in touch with the friends I had and the friends I was making either in person or with a social networking site – one kind word every now and then works wonders to keep a friend. Also, friends have friends and, most likely, you’ll like your friends friends. Keep them too…

Fourth, take the chance to meet others everywhere you go; find out what’s interesting about them, what they’re good at and what they like. People are starved for attention today and someone who actually listens is rare. So… listen; and care – and keep them too…

Whether or not you find where all the people like you are hiding may not matter – you’ll be too busy with your friends!

I’ve gone to two MeetUp groups and they’ve been great! I’ve met several new friends and intend to go back and find other group meetings.

Just. Do. It!

take the avatar course
Simple, but profound! 4 months ago

In 1992 I had had some success in my life – my family life was great, my marriage loving and I had achieved a certain amount of public acclaim. But I felt something was missing – as complete as I felt, there was a certain emptiness inside me craving for fulfillment, for real experience…

Soon thereafter I learned about a new personal realization course not far from where I lived. I immediately signed up! I took the Avatar course in 1992 in an old converted schoolhouse near cornfields and cow pastures in upstate N.Y. It changed my life as I knew it with simple, but profound, techniques for gently changing my perception of the world. I discovered that I was so used to using my thinking abilities to figure life out that I was unhappy, stressed and bringing unwanted experiences into my life.

Through Avatar, I returned to using feel instead of only think and paying attention to what my heart told me; I started to feel instead of figure and the world became bright and beautiful again. Avatar gave me the techniques to overcome personal obstacles and form real and lasting personal relationships.

Avatar is a nine day course in self development and self realization. Today, it’s most likely given in a beautiful hotel ballroom with several hundred people attending.

I was so impressed by the power of the Avatar course to quickly and effective change people’s lives that I became a teacher – a master – and have been involved in helping others regain a sense of taking control of their lives and creating what they want.

Here’s an example of an exercise, for quieting the mind and reducing feelings of stress, from the ReSurfacing workbook:

Exercise 13
Restoring Attention

Objective:
To collect your attention.

Expected Results:
Insights, improved well-being, recovery of self-determinism.

Instructions:
Take a walk and count forms* until thinking diminishes or ceases entirely, and the world becomes brighter.

Example:
Look at a car, one; look at a leaf, two; look at a building, three; etc.

*form – the shape, outline, or configuration of anything; structure apart from color, material, etc.
