the powder today was a bit chopped up but the puff pillows were knee deep, the Mistro Peebs and I tele skied all over Sun Valley’s Baldy mtn and felt like a backcountry day finding lines that no one else had touched, here is the run down so I can preserve my bliss…
3 mediocre runs on greyhawk lines just under lift to the right short shot was good, hit the bowls first the ridge under chairlift, working the northing facing slope, then dropped into north of christmas ridge? and hit wind buffed 6 inch floater snow, then worked that rigde to cold springs, skied the drainage, Olympic, and for the kicker at the end, we ducked the ropes and went back side just skier left of “grandmas” and got face shots and untracked powder the whole way, traverseing back on warm springs mtn bike trail, it felt like a moving floating side walk in space, with burned out trees flickering by…AWESOME 5 star ski day, totally unexpected, very serendipitous, Peebs and I ski really well together, and we were dropping a knee feeling the flow…—xojk

How I did it: Applied for a permit in January, for a Fall time that I could go. Told all my friends they were invited they just needed to get 7 days off of work. Have at least one other friend really involved so the trip happens with support. Have many phone conversations with people to see who was coming and so you stay involved. Call the Monticello river office and pay for the permits, call the Navaho Reservation and pay for hiking permits. Reserv… Read how I did it…
I got to 35 days in a row, and then got super sick with bronchitis, but I am not giving up on this goal, I totally felt like keylimepies and its a freaking me outkind of goal. I was running in the garage because of the cold, and that is too much, not my kind of running, I think I need to wait till the trails open up and we don’t have 0 degree days up here in Idaho, (random thoughts but this is helping me) Also my skiing has been off the charts, I have been skate skiing and downhill skiing and its hard to get it all in. The latest race that picked my interest was the Pocatello 50 miler in May, so I could be back on this goal by the weekend.
OBTW had an awesome 2 hour run on my birthday in Jan, and it was a clean air day in Idaho, not like a few years back when I ran on a red day in SLC and my lungs hurt for days…runners need clean air, rally for it…—xojk
Monday, Day 12, worked a long day, got in the night time on the bike path run, around 10 min, night time shuffle pace
Tuesday, Day 13, felt really good, had a PROPER RUN, 45-50 min felt fast, watch the storm front white out the golf course, couldn’t see, but the bike path was perfectly groomed, and i could run, had the run shoes on, and saw a bunch of the area, right at dusk to dark
Wednesday,12/31, Day 14… pretty drunk on beer, but got in 10 minutes of laps in the culdasac with the hilo girl and chuckit, it got me thinking I might need a winter sport, for chasing a ball, or ? asked about an indoor soccer field in the area to play ultimate frisbee, ? I just need some more connection and push and games,
maybe tennis? or ???
so keep running but may need to add some elements…
