make a digital photo album for my daughter's first 3 months
This is so easy 3 weeks ago

and so worthwhile. I downloaded a program from the web, arranged the photos and backgrounds I wanted (with some text) and sent it to be created. We should get it in the post this week sometime!

make a meal a week for my brother as he has chemotherapy
Untitled 4 weeks ago

I almost didn’t get to making the meal this week and we are only 4 weeks in. Thankfully my daughter slept alot today so I got it done… I really really want to do this…

Give blood
I unintentionally 'gave' a lot of blood!!! 3 months ago

At my daughter’s birth I had a PPH (post-partum haemorrhage) and lost a significant amount of blood. This was a bit of a problem for me as I was anaemic during the pregnancy…

Next time I want to give blood the conventional way.

Have a baby (read all 4 entries…)
so worth it 3 months ago

but really hard work!

read every Booker Prize winning novel (read all 9 entries…)
I have read a couple recently 5 months ago

but they weren’t actual prizewinners, only shortlisted. They were good ones though…

(a) The chant of Jimmy Blacksmith – Thomas Keneally
(b) Never Let me go – Kazuo Ishiguro
(c) Mother’s milk – Edward St Aubyn

ride in a hot air balloon
There is a company near here 6 months ago

that does hot air balloon flights at dawn with a champagne breakfast. I bet their prices are sky high, but I may look into this for my husband’s birthday in June.

make love under the stars (read all 2 entries…)
I must confess 6 months ago

this doesn’t seem that appealing at the moment! I am struggling to make love anywhere, let alone under the stars! I sure hope I get some libido back once I have this baby out. My poor husband! We used to be everyday or every second day types, now it is lucky to be once a week and I know I’m not really putting much effort into it – probably makes it much less enjoyable for my husband.

Take more photos (read all 2 entries…)
We are trying to document our pregnancy in photos 6 months ago

but even though these photos are taken at home, with the camera in easy access, we are not that great at doing this either! I am now 33.5 weeks pregnant and I think the last photo we took was when I was 28 weeks. We really have to get on with this!

decorate my house (read all 6 entries…)
We had friends over last night 6 months ago

and they hadn’t been here for about 6 months. They were pretty shocked (in a good way) about how different everything is! We have bought a fair bit of new furniture (mostly self-assemble from IKEA) and finished all the painting. We kept the dining room, hall and office room in a neutral colour, but the baby’s room turned out a little brighter than I thought – an yellow colour – looks very fresh though. Also got some cute farm animal stickers to go on the walls. Looks good. Not really the kind of nursery you see in magazines – a much cheaper (and therefore unique) version of a nursery. We got hand-me downs for almost all our nursery furniture, pram etc, very blessed.

bake (read all 5 entries…)
Again I think I will mark this as done 6 months ago

but ongoing. I hope to continue to bake lots and lots – so satisfying, especially to see people enjoying what you have made.

bake (read all 5 entries…)
Have been doing more of this lately... 6 months ago

I go in phases – the latest is: gluten free upside-down pear cake, gluten free orange almond dessert cake, banana cake, and baked dinners. When this baby is born and a little bit older we are going to do lots of special baking for daddy! I got some cute cookie cutters – an elephant, crocodile, star and heart! I can’t wait.

have more barbecues (read all 5 entries…)
Another one on Friday 6 months ago

I think I will mark this one as done, but ongoing. A barbecue is such an easy way to entertain – I’ve become the master at throwing together easy salads. Lots of fun!

Have a baby (read all 4 entries…)
I have wanted to be pregnant for so long.. 6 months ago

and now I am sick of it! I am 31 weeks pregnant, have put on 13 kgs, but it is all on my bust and stomach, so I feel huge! Dr. isn’t worried about the weight gain at all but I just feel uncomfortable. It is summer here which makes matters worse. I feel itchy all over and have a heat rash…hurry up and come out baby. But having said that – I love feeling the baby move around, and setting up the nursery and counting down how many weeks I have left at work (7) and looking forward to holding my baby and seeing my husband getting excited.

read every Booker Prize winning novel (read all 9 entries…)
2005 winner 6 months ago

“The Sea” by John Banville – pretty easy and thought-provoking read – really makes you think about life and death and meaning and memory. The only frustrating thing was the lack of chapter breaks, so you end up reading for a lot longer than you had intended – I read it in only 2 sittings!

get a rainwater tank
wow, I really need one of these right now 6 months ago

The rain has been absolutely bucketing down here in Sydney and a rainwater tank would be filled to the brim. Unfortunately we have too many other financial committments at the moment.

See Cirque du Soleil
It was 7 months ago

excellent!

read everyday
There always seems to be something else to do... 7 months ago

I am really going to try and stick to this in 2008

Keep a journal (read all 6 entries…)
I almost got to the end of 2007 7 months ago

Think I stopped sometime in mid-November with all the Christmas build-up etc. I really want to have a journal for 2008 too, but haven’t started yet! Maybe I will aim to start Feb 1st.

use my gym membership (read all 2 entries…)
I no longer have a gym membership 7 months ago

both a financial and practical decision. Since I got pregnant I was really too tired after work to go to the gym and now I am getting bigger and lugging this baby around, there is not a whole lot that I am able to do at the gym. I try to walk most evenings and want to do a little bit of swimming too instead of the gym.

Give 1000 cheers
I just added this goal 7 months ago

after I realised I had achieved it. Probably defeats the purpose but anyway – I’m happy to encourage people to achieve their goals. Some people have some great goals and excellent ideas. I love looking at what others are doing.
