On my last paddle I bought back a shopping bag (which I found in the river) full of fishing line (which I untangled from trees in the river) and fishing hooks. How hard is it, people? Take it home with you!! If I fall out one day whilst untangling fishing line and manage to skewer myself on a hook I am going to be REALLY MAD!! ;)

How I did it: I found a beginners book in the library and it was easy! (I made a scarf, thats why it was easy - no arm holes! Then I just knitted while I was talking to someone one day, and that was that! Read how I did it…
How I did it: It took me ages to get around to it, but then I saw some poetry by Federico GarcĂa Lorca and suddenly was inspired. I downloaded instructions for making origami birds, got out some beautiful paper and spread a little Lorca around. I hope it brings a smile to somebody. Maybe they will recognise a word or two and not have to unwrap the design. "The pool of the air beneath the echo's branch..." Read how I did it…
I found a big beer box abandoned during my early morning paddle today and filled it to overflowing with coke cans, beer bottles, plastic bags and fishing line. (I see now why some kayakers carry pocket knives – breaking fishing line off trees with my bare hands sucks!!!)I couldn’t stay mad for long though, because I also got up close and personal with a feeding pelican and paddled through a school of tiny fish that jumped out of the water all around the kayak. Silvery splishy magic!
Thanks, by the way, to S. who gave Corsa a name, which for some reason made her story come to me easier. When she travels, it is a salute to you. :)
