So far, I’ve been at about 60. My goal is to get up to 80 in the next two months or so. Hopefully I can hold that or higher for a good period of time. There will of course be some low weeks if/when I get injured and after big races.

How I did it: I identified the foods in which I used artificial sweeter: tea, coffee, and my morning oatmeal. I started cutting it out of my tea by sometimes using it, sometimes not. Pretty quickly I got used to tea without it. Then I moved on to coffee. I’ve run everyday since 10/12/2009, at least 2 miles. My trick is to usually do a morning run of 2-2.5 miles very easy just after I get up, then if I do more later, it’s all gravy.
Ran 5:04 this summer. Damn it! Ran 5:31 barefoot on new years eve, fastest barefoot mile, but I didn’t really push very hard.
I think 5/mile is just around the corner.
