lose 5 pounds
Keeping it Simple 4 months ago

My overall weight loss goal is to be 5’8” at 135 pounds and I have been hovering at 145 for close to 2 years now, which is actually a good thing, since I came down from nearly 160 pounds at one point. So having stabilized at 145 is a great victory, but it’s not my personal best.

I keep fixating on the number 135 and feeling rather defeated I’ve lost a lot of my motivation for the gym and other activities, so I’m scaling back and looking at the short term. Five pounds seems like nothing, especially when you’re as tall as I am – 5 pounds doesn’t make you look much thinner, but you can FEEL it, which is what this about anyway: feeling good.

For my first week, I am going to ramp up my gym time. I’m going to do the unthinkable for night owl like me and go to the gym BEFORE work (you have no idea how hard this will be for someone like me…no idea!). I figure changing my routine and the timing might give my metabolism a boost. Here’s hoping for the best!

Read 43 books in 2009 (read all 2 entries…)
So.. 4 months ago

I haven’t finished any of the books on my previous note, but I did read Malcolm Gladwell’s “Outliers” in about four days – seriously, it’s a great read and so inspiring. It’s definitely the kind of book people should read when trying to reach their goals!

With the other books I’ve read this year, that’s 3 down, 40 more to go – whew!

drink more water
Much harder than it seems... 4 months ago

But I’m making some progress by having a gallon jug of water in the fridge, so instead of reaching for juice or some other drink, it’s sitting there as an option too. I’m thinking about getting one of those portable gallon things to take to work. We have a water cooler, but I just don’t remember to use it! :P
