I am a banquet server at Edwards Mansion! Praise the Lord! I am so excited that I’m going to get this work experience (and extra cash) until I leave to be a Fine Arts student at USC in August! :D Woo Hoo! As Keenan said in “Good Burger,” “I’ll get a summah job!”
My first day of the job: Fun, interesting, a bit sad :/
Things that I loved about it!
*The fact that I get to work at various weddings and parties (as opposed to being a server/waitress at an everyday restaurant)
*I get to serve and be around all sorts of (mostly) happy people
*My co-workers are pretty awesome (I was with Evin, Zach, Zach, Cooper, and other people!)
*Lots of exercise
*30 minute break…
Things that were surprising to me
*People getting drunk
*It was my job to pick up the empty beer bottles and shot glasses
*Guys asking for my number (The “nice” nephew of the DJ that kept calling my “J-Beib fan” because when the song “Baby” came on, I made a wierd face that implied that I was not amused. And the coworker guy.)
Things that I learned
*“If you were a people person when you started this job, you won’t be once you start working here” (in the words of Cooper)
*You can’t be nice to everyone. Creeps might get the wrong impression about you.
*Don’t sneak guests extra food. (Zach Martinez told me by the fire in the back once I got home.) This one table loved me because of it, but Zach said that I shouldn’t do it again.
*The guests appreciate when you smile. :D (One guest came up to me later in the night and said that he and his wife appreciated that I smile. “You are the only server that smiled at the guests. I own a restaurant and I look for employees like you.”
