Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Learn to play the guitar
my on again off again attempt

For years I’ve had the want to learn how to play the guitar but lacked the push to fit it into my life. I have the instrument and the tools necessary but seem to lack the time and patience. I’ve played the piano since 2nd grade and don’t remember being as frustrated picking that up but then again, everything was new at that point in my life…every day was about learning something new. I figure if I can put a little bit of time each day into this I can make a little headway. Maybe though I’ll wait until I’ve finished Harry Potter and have lessened my reading load by at least one book….

Read 100 classic novels (read all 3 entries…)

I never thought that I would become one of those people who said that I was reading more than one book at a time but I have!! I finished Emma and took a stab at “The Sound and the Fury” in the form of a book on tape/CD. Had to rethink that choice as Faulkner is going to be easier to figure out with the actual page in front of me as opposed to listening to someone read it to me! Took that one back to the library and am now well into “Tess of the D’Urbervilles.” I’m also on the last of the Harry Potter books and have added “The Power of Karma” into the mix. Yes, three books at once. Fortunately they are each so different that I don’t get them mixed up with each other.

I have found myself opting for a book over tv lately and like that!! I feel like I’m actually accomplishing something instead of merely becoming a couch potato/tv zombie!!

get my house organized (read all 2 entries…)
one step closer...

So I am a step closer to being organized thanks to having to get an appraisal on my house!! A few things could stand to be a little more sorted through but it’s a marked difference than a couple weeks ago!! Now to conquer the garage…and to get my ex husband to pick up his belongings that are taking over half of the garage!!

I would say that I’ve at least gotten a couple legs of the elephant “eaten” off!!! Yay me!!!
