I am down to about 165 now. That is mostly because I got sick back in January. I didn’t eat a lot for a week or two because on pneumonia. That wasn’t really what I had in mind when I set this goal, but I am pretty close now.

Well the end has finally come. Last Friday I had my last day. I am currently on terminal leave. After almost 8 years in the Navy it is very different to think that I don’t have to put that uniform back on. I thought I was just going to sneak out the door without anyone noticing, but one of the LTs in the office did set up a luncheon at a local restaurant. It wasn’t anything complicated, but it did make me feel that my service had been appreciated.
I did shave before going to church last Sunday, but I might just trim it up a little before this Sunday. I am trying to decide how long I am going to let me hair get. I have never had very shaggy hair, and I can’t imagine starting now; but the hair-so-short-I-can-see-your-scalp thing needs to stop. On the otehr hand, back when I was in the shipyard, you could often tell which guys were ex-Navy because they had scraggly old pony tails with gnarly beards. That is a little too far for me. You can maintain a sense of good grooming without a military haircut.
Now we are getting ready to move as we start a new life outside the Navy. There is an Army base not too far from where we are going, so we might run into some soldiers from time to time. At least we won’t be seeing any submarines or surface ships.
I am happy to have the Navy behind me. Now I just hope they don’t get crazy and start recalling guys from the IRR. I wouldn’t put it past the Pentagon, though.
I have been sick since the New Year. I found out yesterday that I have pneumonia. I will probably have to wait 4-5 more days before I can get started.
Oh well, I still feel like it is a good goal and still achievable.
