Coldplay Live in Singapore (Lifted from 360 and my Family's Blog) 3 years ago

Wow, I can’t believe I watched Coldplay live! Man, that was friggin’ unbelievable.

They were awesome on stage. Chris was astounding (duh, can’t think of another word) and everyone else in the band wowed the jam-packed Singapore Indoor Stadium. My sisters and I were able to get seats at the right side of the stage, if you’re facing the stage, thanks to Ate Jill’s perseverance. Hahaha! Wow! Those were damn great seats! I mean, we had a great view of the place where they’d exit and enter and we had a clear view of the stage and the video wall. They were super near! About a couple of yards away or something. I can’t believe that I’d ever be in the same vicinity as Coldplay. Never in my life. Guess that’s one dream down, lots more to go.

The show was really fantastic, and I’m not saying this because I am a huge Coldplay fan. I really didn’t expect anything like that. I expected a night of singing to their tunes and you know…the usual, rock on! jump! scream! listen! sit down! I’m bored now! What song is this! thing. But no, this concert was way past that. (I’m sorry I didn’t have much faith in the band. Boo.) When the band started playing “Yellow”, it was insane! The crowd got wild and everyone was singing, screaming and getting off of their seats. (Except of course for the people in the Free Standing Area) The lighting used throughout the entire performance was perfect, they didn’t miss a beat. Lasers and strobe lights lit up the Singapore Indoor Stadium, and made it seem like you’re stuck in some sort of time portal with Coldplay playing in the background. I don’t know about you guys, but that’s how I felt. And then, there were the big yellow balloons filled with confetti. That was a fantastic touch to the “Yellow” performance. Chris popping those balloons made the crowd go wild. hahaha! I wanted to keep one, but it was huge. hahaha!

All in all, if I had to rate this concert, I’d give the set selection a 10, duh it’s their concert anyway and it’s their tour. I love all of their songs anyway, although I couldn’t sing along to “Politik” and another song they played. Lighting, Music and Extra Stuff/Props, a 10 too. No glitches there. No problems with the equipment and all. Well executed. I’d add 2 extra points for the balloons. Hahaha! And another 2 points for the video wall. That was cool too. I mean, they’d show the different band members on it and they’d use special effects that will just make you point and gape in awe and wonder. “Wow, look at that. Cool.” were the only words I could utter. Hahaha! Also, when the gig started they used the video wall to display a countdown, as the band entered and started playing “Square One.” And as soon as the countdown finished, an explosive first chorus of “Square One” fed the excited crowd and there was not a single soul who did not smile/grin, clap, scream, jump or whistle in that stadium. I had goosebumps. Cool. What a great way to start the show. And the band…oh the band! I’d give them a 20/10. Their energy and the warmth that the entire band exuded was, as we’d say in Tagalog/Filipino, “Astig!”

Nothing will ever beat this experience, as of now anyway. And in the genre of live shows or concerts, this will be on the top. I am grateful for having shared it with my two wonderful and generous sisters. hehehe!

I don’t know how the heck I’m going to fall asleep now, I am still in a daze and I keep playing the whole thing in my head.

Coldplay rocked Singapore. And I was there. How cool was that?!

Later!
