How I did it: After I transferred to the state college from the community college, I took between two and four classes every semester, including summers. There was a period of a few months a couple winters ago when I didn't go to school, I worked two jobs, and then I decided I wasn't happy with that. So I quit one job, moved home to my parents' place, and went back to school. Now I'm trying to get a teaching position. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I earned a BA in History from a local state college. Nights and summers, I took classes. I took about 4 years part-time at the community college and transferred my credits to the state school. I'll continue to study history, but my master's will be in special education. So, we’ve looked at about 10 houses. The first day we saw one that we absolutely loved, but they wanted a little bit too much for it. And then a contractor friend of ours noticed on our 2nd visit that the floor around the toilet on the 2nd floor would need to be replaced, which could be very expensive, up to $10,000, and we wouldn’t know until we started doing the work. So we tearfully said goodbye to that one.
Last weekend we saw another one we loved. A little smaller, a little less money, but completely rehabbed. We’ve been negotiating a price since Sunday, and tomorrow, we’re going to actually put down money.
The pre-approval letter came this week. My credit came back better than I thought it would. Pretty cool. I suppose we’ll start looking at houses any day now. Our agent is my fiancee’s aunt, which has its benefits and drawbacks.
