How I did it: when I was 10 yrs old, my family spent 3 months in Syracuse NY. (My dad worked for IBM) A girl met there taught me to do one thing.... the knit stitch. Never learned how to cast on, purl, or cast off. I can only imagine how long that scarf would be now (reminds me of a scene from 'like water for chocolate') Flash forward 12 years, and my scarf and my NY friend are all but blurry memories. A friend at wo… Read how I did it…
Well, I got there about a half hour late, got myself out of the car and into the restaurant, and the hostess didn’t know what group i was talking about. the place was fairly busy, so i didn’t walk around asking everyone if they were “newcomers and friends of Laredo”. didn’t have that much guts. but I am proud of my self for getting out of bed even though i was late and making an attempt.
tomorrow night the book club is meeting. lets see if i can make that. DH says that will be more difficult because there will be drinking going on. he’s right. i REALLY don’t know if I can handle that. Maybe that could be my chance to show him i could do it. drink socially. oh hell.
Well, the first get together of the newcomers and friends of laredo is tomorrow morning at the IHOP. and i’m already freaking out and coming up with reasons not to go. why is this so damn scary???
they say people never really change… in any way that really matters anyway. maybe i’m just destined to be a hermit. the drinking helped me be more unconcerned about what other people thought about me, and it was easier to talk to people, be more outgoing. but now i don’t have that crutch anymore. it’s safer to just hide. my dog loves me, isn’t that enough?
