become a black belt
Untitled 5 months ago

I started taking karate a while ago, and have found it brings many benefits.

Obviously there’s the exercise benefits. If you’re really into it when your forms, they can be a real workout. That naturally helps with stress. But I’ve also found that karate is an awesome way of dealing with anxiety. While I still have the occasional panic attack, it’s not like it was before. I haven’t figured out exactly how martial arts helps. I’m sure the exercise helps, but I think it has more to do with focusing on something.

Another benefit is confidence. I used to feel anxious in unfamiliar or scary places. I’d think about all the ways something bad could happen, but now I can reassure myself that if something should happen, I could defend myself.

I’m about halfway to my black belt.
