A lot has happened since April of 2008 (my last entry). Some of the songs we worked on are abandoned, but a few have survived.
We were both busy these few years, and hadn’t really been able to get together much.
At the beginning of the year, we came together – 2 brothers with acoustic guitars! We played 5 new songs (3 of mine, 2 of his) and worked them out. I think we have enough material to do another project, we just need to find the time to practice and then record. I do have some accoustic recordings of this session, which are fun to listen to, although unfinished.
I think we’ve mostly abandoned the “guest musician on every song” idea, but who knows what might happen.
We still have that 1 song recorded, but we want to re-record the lead vocals, so nothing is really finished.
In the meantime, I’ve put together a collection of old Room Temperature songs – stuff we rejected for our other projects. I want to get a package together and give this to some people. I just need to do the printing / cutting, and that’s hard to find the time to do (or the money).

How I did it: Actually, I didn't do it! During a week, I moved all sorts of stuff (rocking chair, computer desk, bags of clothes, and boxes of toys to name a few) over to my Dad's house, in preperation of a yard sale my sister was planning to have over there. Me and my kids, after moving all this "stuff", went to my Dads and priced everything. The next day, we were going ot hold the yard sale. However, we had to cancel due to rain. So a week later, duri… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Well, it was my Birthday. It was a really nice day outside, so I wanted to do something out there. I asked my kids if they wanted to go for a bike ride, and they turned me down! Then my wife bitched at me about something, and I decided I needed to go outside, desperately! So I committed to cleaning up the back porch. I pulled off all the nasty and/or broken lawn furniture, and raked up the 2 years worth of leaves that had gathered. I remov… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I found a number of places on the web and displayed the candidates to my brother. He picked the one he liked best, and I made all the arrangements. I didn't plan anything else, leaving it up to his creative friends to figure out other activities. We didn't bother with strippers. But we drank steadily all weekend. I brought my drums, guitars, and a PA, and had it all set up before anyone showed up. We then filled the weekend with mu… Read how I did it…

So, the band is pretty much done. Don and I never could find a guitarist.
We are doing a new band now, with him playing drums and me on guitar! We don’t play any of the Scott Beowulf songs in this band, and we haven’t played them in a while.
But the new band is fun, and I’m happy about our Scott Beowulf experiences. The new band, still unnamed, is going to disban after the summer, when Don and his wife hit the road.
As for our recordings, I put together a CD with the 8 songs, and made 10 copies. They are fun to listen to, and I’m satisfied with that.
So this goal is done, as far as I’m concerned. Or rather, I’m finished with it.
Well, my Dad passed away last February.
I don’t feel like I didn’t spend enough time with him, although I would have loved to have had many more years.
We took him to the hospital, and basically we were told there wasn’t much time left. Given the choice, Dad was ready to go home. So he passed at home, and his 4 children spent most of the last few days with him, holding his hand and telling him how much we loved him. I spent a few nights on an air mattress next to his bed. On the first night, he called to my mother several times, “Jaqueline… Jacky…”, which was sweet (although admittedly creepy). My mon died 13 years ago.
He really was the best person I have ever known. When my wife went to see him, from his death bed he made a point of asking how her father was doing. That’s just one example of what a great guy he was.
I miss him terribly, and I think about him often. I spent a lot of time with him, and consider this goal met.
