I have gotten sooooo far away from a healthy diet that I am finding this goal difficult to manage. I have decided to break it into two smaller steps: first one week of whole foods without restrictions and the second week with more focus on lowfat/high protein/etc. as I need to lose some extra weight for the 1/2 marathon training.
First phase starts now – I’ll check back and report in one one week.

Pneumonia, hospital, asthma – the Gods were laughing at my plans to complete this goal for the new year, but now I am better and it is time to begin. This is tied into my other goals so I will begin with ‘eat a healthy balanced diet for one week straight’ beginning right…...NOW.
It is official – I have begun this journey (and truly tabula rasa as my illness has left me sedentary for two months).
I have signed up for a half marathon in early June so now I have a purpose and a deadline to get fit again. I also decided that once I run 10 miles for the first time I get to resume karate classes – thats 3 Goals done – this is officialy a theme.
A year ago I was terrified of even the idea of running a 5k and now I am confident I can work toward a half-marathon. How far I have come…yet the eat right for one week seems out of my reach. I’ll start now, one day at a time.
We did it…we cut up the extra credit cards, reserving only a few we labeled for business/gas/household and made the committment to write each purchase in the checkbook as an immediate deduction. If the money is not in the checkbook we will not make the purchase!
It is going to kill me to be writing checks for thousands of dollars to credit cards but the ‘carrot’ is the idea of finally being able to make money that goes into savings instead of past debt. I am grateful to be in the position to begin this journey. I am going to muscle-up and try to get evrything – student loans, cards, etc – except my mortgage – paid off by the end of 2008. My father already told me thats rediculous but I am determined to do it and begin living within our means and BUILDING a life instead of just SUSTAINING it.
