My gram has been a big part of my life, all of my life. She was always around and is very much a part of my nuclear family. I took her for granted during my teen years and before my career and own life started to demand so much of my time, I spent a whole lot of time hanging out with my gram. I haven’t spent much time with her lately. And that is weighing on my soul.
My gram is really very old and even though she is in great shape both physically and mentally – it is not beyond chance that the next few years will be her last.
After seeking some advice and chatting with a close friend who has recently said goodbye to her gram I’m going to make the effort to call my gram once a week. Because really, she’s worth that and so much more.
There is not enough time in the work day for me to get it all done. And maybe it is time to accept that I can not physically get it all done, by myself and either ask for help or accept that I am human and I can ‘only do, what I can do’, making sure that I do it well.
Hmm, while I see a few weekends in the office yet – my goal is make the most of my summer weekends!
