Am in the beginning stages of sketching out our new house; there is a promising area for a hidden room.
In the master suite (that sounds rather sinister and snobbish….exactly the spot for a hidden room!) there will be small sitting room with a fireplace. The fireplace is a double one, the other half being in the great room. So far the sketches look like it would be easy to transform the sitting room into a hidden room by enclosing the area between the main part of the bedroom and the sitting room. Not sure, though, if a library wall or a pocket door of some type would be best.
DH would like to build an underground walkway between the garage and the house with possibly a room to one side that could be used for a root cellar.

Since moving to Scotland or Vermont would mean not seeing my children and grandchildren more than once a year, living near Lake Superior is where I plan to be within the next ten years. Either that or in the cemetery, but at that point I doubt it would matter to me.

When I was a small child our family spoke Danish whenever we visited my father’s parent’s home. My grandmother and her aunt were firm believers that we (the grandchildren) should not forget our heritage. When visiting my mother’s family we spoke a mixture of Scots, Irish Gaelic and English for much the same reason.
Off and on for the past few years I’ve been studying Danish, but it’s sure a lot harder now than when I was a toddler. ;)
