So I wrote my introduction last week and feel like I have a little bit more direction. I’m going to try and spend more time on this, and I definitely have been thinking about it quite a bit. It’s pretty much based on a particular time in my life. It’s a story you’ve heard a thousand times…but hopefully I’m good enough at telling it that you will want to hear it again :)

Well I finally got out of debt!! No more car payments, motorcycle payments, school loan, or cc balance! The first thing I did was pay off my cc balance and make sure I pay it off every month and then I would tackle one loan payment at a time and throw any extra money at it. I’m not too good at denying myself the things that I want so if I had a big ticket item coming up (say a trip) I would make sure to put away some money to make sure that I wouldn’t end up putting it on my card and not be able to pay it off. Now I’ll be working on building up my ‘emergency fund’ of about 10k to 12k which should take me 5-6 months. I probably won’t be throwing too much extra at my mortgage right now just because I have some big trips planned in the next cpl years and we are planning on moving within the next year and we aren’t upside down or anything so we should pay off our mortgage when we sell the house and then we will probably rent wherever we get moved to so that we won’t be tied down.
A great book is total money makeover….it really puts you in the right mindset for getting out of debt and breaks it down into bite size pieces :)
finished paying off my car but i picked up a motorcycle payment so i’m going to pay that off-the goal is to have it paid off by october :) and then i’m done-we should also be moving/selling the house which will mean no more mortgage so i will actually be 100% debt free
