I received a pretty awesome gift from my family for Christmas. Stealthly coordinator and co-purchaser, my girlfriend presented me with my very own brand new bike on Christmas Eve. I’m totally excited and now just need to start practicing (excluding the trips up and down our hallway lol).

and she’s ok with it.
Yesterday I spoke w/ my mom kind of to remind her that I’m gay. I came out to her about 10 years ago and things did not go over well. Initially she was more concerned about how it affected her, that being gay didn’t correspond w/ her religious beliefs, etc. We haven’t discussed it in quite some time and I was worried it was mainly because it was denial related on her part. But through the years and a couple heartaches later (that I couldn’t quite talk to her about), she’s come around and is supportive of the relationship I have w/ my gf…. Now it’s one parent down and one to go. Telling my dad that I’m a lesbian is probably going to be one of the toughest things I’ll ever experience.
After shadowing a few occupational therapists, I have discovered that this is what I really want to do for a living. This realization is fueling a drive to make changes in my life and at the same time giving me a little piece of inner peace. ;)
Several months later…. I am nearing the end of my first semester as I’m enrolled in an occupational therapy assistant program. So far I’m doing pretty well. I’m anticipating the start of fieldwork next semester – 6 weeks in pediatrics.
