Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

- The Robots.

pay off my car loan (read all 4 entries…)

It hasn’t hit my bank account yet, but when I look online I see “my car loan application” paired with a “0.00”—and that’s close enough for me :)

The other day

I turned off the highway to get gas, and there was a homeless woman sitting in the rain with her wilted cardboard sign. I gave her my umbrella, and she told me I was the first person she’s ever seen to think of that. While I don’t think the latter is really true, it felt good to help keep someone out of the weather.

It lurks on the horizon.

Just got paid. I’m stalking Monday. Excited.

tame my hair (read all 6 entries…)

I went out and bought a hairdryer. The weather is finally starting to drop and I think I should avoid becoming an icicle when I step outside the door this season.

The problem is that blowdrying my hair makes it even frizzier. I don’t get it. I can put it on the low setting, or the warm(not hot) setting, and it will still poof. This is exactly why I have avoided the blowdryer for so long- but all the other females in the world seem to manage it… My hair can’t be that unique. Soooo… wth? Just annoyed :P

This week!

Signed up to volunteer at the nearby hospital’s charity run. Hope to run it myself next year :)

While at the vending machines today after a 2+hr class one of my classmates gave me an orangeade. I hadn’t had breakfast so it was greatly appreciated alongside some crackers I bought. I gave my extra change to a girl who was counting pennies behind me, and I hope to bring my classmate a Dr. Pepper on Monday(which is what he was trying to get in the first place).

New additions.

It’s getting cold again. I didn’t have a heavier winter jacket so I splurged and got one. Also found a casual dress for $10 in Target’s clearance rack.

Mixed feelings about spending the money :P Harrumph.

Fix my sleep schedule
Mostly done

My schedule is rather regular now, but I think I’d like to be up just a bit earlier in the mornings. I haven’t gotten to the part where I wake up, work out, and then do classes- and that sounds like the best plan.

So far so good!

No cake, no ice cream, pastries, cookies, you name it! It hasn’t been a full week yet, but I’m going strong and don’t have much for cravings. When I do get cravings, I try to pick something that is a little sweet but more healthy (ie. fruit, instant breakfast) or even go back for seconds on my actual meal. I’m not sure how much that latter choice is helping, but at least it’s keeping me out of the cookie jar :)

EDIT: M made creamcheese cookies tonight. FML.

Didn't meet my personal challenge, but it was worth a summer of fun.

Now I’m down to $1300, plus interest. I’m hoping I can get rid of it before the new year comes around. That would be an awesome Xmas present from me to me :)

It appears I can only go a week at a time with this so far :) I find something to celebrate and push this goal to the side. I have a PT test this coming month, though, so I know I’ll get this done!

Edit: Beginning personal challenge :)

This filthy cheater had a piece of chocolate bundt cake last Saturday. Looks like I’m pushing this back a bit! But that’s ok. I’m trying to get the boy into this habit as well(wish me good luck, I’ll need it) and I can’t very well do that whilst stuffing my own face.
