How I did it: $5k for 4 years at 19.8%- you do the math. Yes, I'm the dumbest person alive.I just put every extra penny I had toward this- paid the minimums on everything else. Read how I did it…
How I did it: FORCED myself to not say a single comment- in my head or out loud. I know everyone else is stupid compared to me, and I don’t need to remind anyone. I just chose to ignore tailgaters (almost impossible at the time) and people who are going 10 over on city streets, and then go 10 under on the highway, blocking both lanes of traffic. I just chose to smile. Weeks 1-3 killed me.By week 4 I started feeling a change inside me- almost a relief-… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I eat REALLY bad. Or I used to anyway. No, seriously- really bad. So all I did was start eating slightly healthy, and I started running. It was the running that did it. I couldn't even do a mile when I started, but I kept running 3 or 4 times every week, and by the end of the 3 months could run 4 miles straight without stopping. I just kept doing it, even when I didn't want to. That's the key... Just sticking with it. All that crap out th… Read how I did it…

Looks like this is going to stick. It’s been almost 3 years, and I haven’t missed a single night- even camping/traveling/etc.
Technically I have passed out a couple times, but I always do it the second I wake up in the morning. And then I’m back on track to do it again that night. (Less than 10 times in 3 years, but it’s nice to be able to save myself like that, and not have to count ever missing a night.)
My plan is to come back on July 17 (2 months and five days from now) because it’ll be my 3 year anniversary. Then I’ll consider this an official win, and close it out.
Hit a low point of 8.5% thanks to running, lifting, and eating right. But then I started traveling for work, and finding time for exercise is tough. So is finding discipline to eat right and drink a less than insane amount. I feel and look about how I did when I was 10-11%, and I’m pretty happy with that.
Someday when I get a real job in one place with a set schedule and I’m not always on the road I’ll do this again. In the meantime, I’m staying healthy and fit with less stringent guidelines.
