How I did it: I squirreled away money and stopped buying things completely for a month. A big factor was landing a job, so this trip was the main motivator. Every time I got discouraged, I thought, "Once I get this done, I'll be able to see Jack." Read how I did it…
How I did it: Apply, Apply, Apply, and Apply again. I went on ten interviews before I got an offer. I stopped trying to bust my way into a job I wanted and focused more on who was actually hiring. I gave a resume when they didn't require one, I called to check up on it, then gave an awesome interview. Then I called to check up on that. I never waited for them to call me. Read how I did it…
I’ve already registered for the internship credits for next semester. I’m thinking the Bryant Park Project is my best bet, because most NPR internships are in DC, and I live in New York. I haven’t worked up the guts to call and charm anyone yet, but I’m going to try to get all of my application stuff done by June 20th.
it’s just like kicking any habit, you have to remind yourself all the time until it becomes second nature to grab the canvas tote when you go shopping. It also helps that I carry around enormous handbags anyway.
