Once, I signed up for a Russian class at my University. It was through the coninuing education department and only a 4-week course, but very intensive. The choice was between it and Chinese, and I am glad I chose Russian. I haven’t pursued it any since then, so I guess it doesn’t count. I want to buy Rosetta Stone but I don’t know which one to get. I took French in High School, but I feel Spanish might benefit me better here in Texas. Italian would be cool too. Choices, choices.

How I did it: First I thought of how old I was when I started relating music to events in my life. On average it came down to Junior High. I then started thinking of all the memorable events from then on. I tried to associate those events with the music I was listening to at the time. Next I found them in iTunes and put them in a playlist. I burned it and now in my car, I can stroll down memory lane whenever I want. Read how I did it…
I have been without a TV for about 2.5 years and I absolutely would not have cable (or DirecTV) again. The most notable improvement in my life was the amount of books I read. I went from basically zero books to about two a month. It’s not a lot but coming from none is a big improvement. I hear my sister complain about how much time she is missing now that she is a teacher. I know being a teacher can suck the time right out from under you, but I tell her everytime I see her that she would have more than enough time if she would just give up her tv for a year. If I could convince her of anything worth doing on this site, it is this.
I moved out of parents’ house just weeks after graduating. At that age, I thought I knew exactly what I was doing. I suppose I did, considering I was never arrested or seriously injured. I did visit them often at first, but moving to the next town over definitely made it harder. My visits soon became less and less. When my dad got sick (cancer), my parents moved to the same town as me. This made it possible to visit them practically every day. I enjoyed what time I had left with my dad. Although, I could never quite get out of my head the thoughts of what we could have had if we just had more time. I did what I could and I cherish that. Shortly after he passed, I went to the University. I told myself I would not make the same mistake with my mom. I guess fate was listening, because it was not soon after I got sick. I moved back in with my mom so she could take care of me. This was not the kind of quality time I had envisioned, but again I was taking what I could get. When I was better, I considered moving back out. Again fate told me otherwise. My mom got sick and I decided to stay until she was better. Well, now she is all well and I am at my last semester at the University. I really want to attend Grad School, but I know I will choose one that is as close to home as possible. Now that I have spent so much time with my mom as a young adult, I have a feeling it’s going to be hard to spend more than a week without her.
