Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

- The Robots.

Getting There....

Currently at
CC1 – $4150
CC2 – $800
CAR – $1310
DAD – $1000

I have paid off a lot of CC1 but then had to put stuff on there for work which will take another 2 weeks for them to pay back the money through expenses.

Another 2 weeks and I can close the account for CC2!!!
And then put that $500 a week towards CC1!!!

12. The Angels Game - Carlos Ruiz Zafon

I loved Shadow of the wind so much I had to read the next one as soon as it came out in English.

A little weirder that the Shadow but still really really enjoyable.

11. The Circus in Winter - Cathy Day

Another collection of short stories, this time about the circus. Kind of similar to the circus that is in Water for Elephants…. I really liked how all the stories interconnected in some way.

9. The Loop - Nicholas Evans

The Horse Whisperer was quiet a powerful book for me when I read it when I was 13 or so. This one was good but didn’t strike me as much as that novel did.

I've been very very bad but now it's time to get determined and make up for it all.

It’s depressing looking at these goals and seeing this has been my goal since jan 14th 2007 (has been my goal for a lot longer than that but it’s the first time I logged it on here.)

As far as my past entries go in over 2 years I’ve only paid off $2293. I got pretty close a few times but then put more debt on my cards.

I’ve cut up one credit card (but can still buy things on the internet with it) and the other one I’ve actually been pretty good with and stopped using it. (It is truly only for emergencies)

It’s now time to make a HUGE change and get rid of this goal!

So I’ve had a bit of money saved up and instantly i’ve gone from
$12,300 to $10,000.
I’ve made a plan for my current job to have $500 a week to go on paying off my debt. I’ve told my boyfriend and best friend my situation so i am fully accountable to 2 people now and I am going to achieve this!

Current debts are:
CC1 – $4000
CC2 – $2700
CAR – $1600
DAD – $1000

If my “budget” goes to plan I should be all paid off in 24th Sept.

Of course any bonus money that comes in is going to be great – like if i get my KRUDD bonus it’s going towards this!

As soon as CC2 is paid off it’s being canceled. I don’t need the second one (I don’t even need the first one) but I want to have something that I can have a credit rating on.

2. We need to talk about Kevin - Lionel Shriver

Incredibly disturbing
put me off having children a bit.

I’m terrified they might turn out like Kevin or even if they turned out like Celia with no backbone would be awful.

i am about to cut up my credit card.

going to do something unbelievably crazy and cut up my card.

I know it’s not going to stop me using it completely as i know the number off by heart and can still use it to buy stuff on the internet but i really need to get into the habit of paying this off and not using it.

i am back to badly in debt since i last updated this .. i spent heaps on my credit card although a couple of hundred of it will be reimbursed by work but i doubt i’ll put it back on there unless i cut it up.

so current status is-

Credit Card – $4,769.80
Car – $2500

And I’m kind of worried cos i have two weeks of work left and then I’m back to potentially 2 months of no work.but at least i have some money saved up for those 2 months and will of course be looking for work while i’m traveling.

watch 52 movies in 2007 (read all 46 entries…)
45 - 52

so i think i’ve reached my 52 since August – i can’t remember exactly what i’ve watched since then but there has been a few.
