i think everybody doing this should seriously consider reading The Stranger by Albert Camus and the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu. Modified existentialism brought me to a state closer to permanent happiness than i ever could have imagined :)

the internet provides a mask behind which i’ve hidden, creating a persona modeled after the person of my dreams: well-traveled, beautiful, intelligent, and loving. but creating this persona has showed me that i may actually like myself just the way i am; the traveling and learning will come with time. it’s time to surrender the persona and the friends she’s attained, because deception can never end well.
