Passed my viva with minor corrections! 12 months ago

Woo, I am feeling very tired! Today I had my viva and I passed with minor corrections. It feels so good to know that I won’t ever have to face this fear ever again! All that’s left is to complete my corrections in the allotted three months but no more examinations. My supervisors seemed really happy with my pre-viva talk and the examiners said that they my performance in the viva was good. After all these years or crawling along it feels amazing to hear some good feedback. The viva itself was really interesting and actually good fun. They asked some interesting and probing questions and the external seemed to quite like my research. Both suggested that I could publish some of the results. I am well chuffed. Now I’m going to relax and watch some films…

Submitted! 12 months ago

I submitted on September 23rd which was a good week before the ESRC deadline so I am happy. It was pretty amazing to see the thing finally formatted and looking like a thesis. Printing was relatively straight-forward and cheap. After handing in, I wandered around like a zombie. Now I have to prepare for the viva…

climb a 6
Onwards and upwards 18 months ago

I managed this late last year, but didn’t get round to updating. It was a yellow 6a climb on a backwards leaning wall at Alien Rock 1 in Edinburgh. It was pretty reasonable for the most part but had a rather mean stretch at the last move. I finally made it with a bit of tiptoes and a lunging move.

I had been trying to climb 6a climbs for a while but it took a while to manage one in one go. I’m still working on 6a climbs and still don’t manage many in one go very often, but I am improving and learning new techniques so that’s good.
