I have been wanting to open a Roth IRA for some time, but being a single mom, money always went somewhere else. And last year we moved to California from Illinois, so any extra money was saved for that. So this year when I got my tax refund, I finally opened a Roth IRA. I have some funds in a 401K from my last employer, but I feel like now I’m finally taking responsibility for my retirement. I’ve just got to teach my kids to do this earlier than I did.

Finally!

I recently got my passport in the mail, and though I have no plans to go anywhere for at least a year, it’s nice to know that I’ve got it taken care of.

Went down to the local Kinko’s and had my photo taken for my passport. Downloaded the paperwork from the web and am planning on going to the post office to apply next Monday. Someone saw me getting my photo taken and asked me where I was going and I had to answer “Nowhere, yet….” Next I’ll have to plan a trip out of the country.
