How I did it: After a brief lesson from our friends, we were off to the lift.  I fell getting off, something that I did most every time I tried to get off of it.  It took me nearly an hour to get down the bunny slope.  Thank God for butt pads!  I fell so hard once that it knocked the wind out of me.  I bruised me knee and my ego pretty good, but no broken bones.  My husband got pretty good at it by the end of the day. … Read how I did it…

How to learn to ski

How I did it: After my attempt at snowboarding I went and rented ski's.  Shyla gave me a few pointers and we headed for the lift.  First time off the lift on the skis and I crashed.... hard.  I lost a ski on that tumble.  My first fall on the way down was interesting.  Shyla laughed so hard that she nearly fell down herself.  I kept at it and had a near miss with a tree.  We took pictures of me and the tree.  Aft… Read how I did it…

How to learn how to make fondant icing

How I did it: I decided that I wanted a cake with fondant for my 28th birthday.  So I bought everything I would need, did some research and then got to it!  Being in Japan I wanted a Cherry Blossom themed cake.  I wanted white and pink, but my fondant ended up too yellow for what I wanted, so I went for pink and purple.  The purple looks a little more gray than purple, but I still love it!  I am having a few friends come over a… Read how I did it…

We got info 10 months ago

Now the next step for me is to get my transcripts, AGAIN, and to scour the books they gave us on scholarships and grants. Simon’s will be paid for through his GI Bill, but I am kinda S.O.L. on that. Hopefully with the right research I can find some killer grant or something that I qualify for. Maybe I can find one for grandchildren of Vietnam Vets! :) Hmmmmm…....

I haven’t written a letter since about a week and a half before Christmas. I’ve been so wiped out recently that the thought hasn’t crossed my mind. Next week I’ll get to it…. along with the 100’s of other things I have been putting off doing. sigh I need to sleep for a week…..

Doing good so far... 10 months ago

I’ve been reading books from the library like a fool the past 3 months or so. I got a TON of books for my birthday and Christmas. I think once I finish all of my new books and the last of the library ones that I currently have that I will mark this one as done. I love to read, I just got out of the habit with the move to Japan and the adjusting to a new place. But I am back in read mode now! After the one I am on I am going to start on Gregory Maguire’s ‘A Lion Among Men’. It is the 3rd book in the Wicked series and I am SUPER excited about it!
