Life has been pretty typical for me. I had a normal family, friends, childhood, etc. I graduated college with a B.S. in computer science and had a pretty successful career as one of those I.T. guys. I was making and saving a lot of money, and 10 years later after working for the same place I found out that I really HATE I.T. work. So I thought it was time to move on. My life motto is “Follow Your Bliss”.
I moved to Houston, TX about 4 years ago to become a full time investor / entrepreneur. My first mission was to go to real estate school and open my own real estate investing business. This went pretty well for about 2 years. I had a competent team (at least I thought so) and at our height we had a total inventory of 57 properties in our portfolio.
Well that all ended with 1 single deal going bad. My personal credit was destroyed and the company lost 12 properties to foreclosure. On top of that we had to go without pay until the situation was resolved. That situation was never resolved and I ate up all of my savings and began going into debt for the first time ever. Oh and that year I got a ticket from a blanket patrol (no front license plate, expired registration, and no insurance). It was a borrowed car and the only thing valid was the expired registration. Anyway, I was not able to pay it then because I wasn’t making salary.
NOW- To catch you up to today: I took a little rinky dink job delivering pizza’s to pay my bills and rent. I was able to get a phenomenal deal for living but with this seriously LOW paying job I’m averaging between $200-300 a month after expenses. I thought I would just swallow my pride and go back to I.T. work and hate every day until I could fund my next project but I ran into another bump. It seems that anywhere I apply they say they cannot hire me because I failed my background check. It seems because I never paid that ticket a warrent was issued. I’ve tried to get it taken care of but because of the fee’s and penalties the ticket is now $1800. GURRR With this pizza job I have it’ll take me at least a year to pay it off. Oh, and I was saving for a car again..
I just don’t know what to do.. I’m sooooo stuck! Does anyone know where I can turn for advice?
