i have hundreds of books and not a lot of time to read them. plus, i read slowly. my mom and my sister probably read over 100 books per year. i was reading like 4…maybe. anyway, one of my new year’s resolutions was to read two books per month. so far, i have surpassed that goal! i love reading!!! once you get in the habit of doing it, you don’t want to stop. the reason i don’t know if this is possible is because i am always getting new books. i don’t want to stop buying books when i want them just so i can accomplish this goal. i think setting a goal for a specific number of books is better than saying you want to read all of your books. so that is what i am going to do from now on.
when i first created this goal, i really thought it was unattainable for me. i hadn’t had a boyfriend in years and had absolutely no prospects. everyone around me was in a relationship, engaged, or already married! but then someone who had been a brief acquaintance (and had since moved hundreds of miles away) came back to town to visit with friends for a week. while he was here, we ran into each other and started talking and haven’t stopped since! that was in february 2006. he moved back to town in may, and we got engaged february 12th 2007. exactly one year and one day after we bumped into each other while he was here visiting. i didn’t go out that night with the intention of meeting someone. i had already given up that dream. i just went out to avoid spending a saturday night sitting alone in my room watching tv. as it turns out, you are NEVER going to meet anyone, for romance or friendship, if you’re at home sitting on your bum.
anyway, i’m not going to close this goal yet because i’m not actually married. but hopefully i will be able to say i’ve done this and it’s worth doing sometime in the summer of 2008!
