i have six already: “strength” and “truth” in arabic on my inner wrists, monkey on my lower abdomen/ilium, stars on each scapula, libra glyph on my lumbar/sacral region. i’d like several more: scales inside of the glyph, lesbian symbol on my left foot…and a giant back piece – my representation of the universe and my tiny place in it. i’m pretty excited about it. i think as a graduation celebratory activity, i’ll suggest to my wife that we go out to get our back pieces together. she wants a dragon and ancient ruins (her own design, of course) and we’ll graduate together (me with my MA in art history, her with an undergrad pre-med degree.) that will be a good idea!!!

i love to read, but it seems lately (what with graduate school AND massage therapy school) that i don’t have the time. i hate that! of course, i’m constantly reading books, articles, etc. for school, but it’s just not the same. sometimes, i just want a good story!

it hurts a lot! i’ve had 23 piercings, and the belly button was the absolute worst! healing time sucked, and it’s in a place that can’t really be tightly covered (like nipples can be with a bra) so shirts rub all over the piercing, move it around, and generally create discomfort! i know that not everyone has had such a terrible experience with belly burron piercings (as they are the most popular piercings to get,) but all three times i’ve had it done, it’s gone awry. :(
