Coming from years of Windows and Linux experience (I am currently a Linux sysadmin), Mac OS X is a breath of fresh air. It combines the raw power of Unix with a beautiful interface, and, best of all, everything seems to just work out of the box—no configuration, no hassle, no mess.
My only complaint is the lack of a integrated package management system for all software (not just the stuff in Fink & DarwinPorts), but to be fair, nobody has implemented that for commercial software on any platform yet, and probably never will.

I read the whole “trilogy in five parts”, and loved it. The third book was a little weird/hard to follow, though.
